2007 Aston Martin DB9 - 6 Speed Manual

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Launched in 2003, the Aston Martin DB9 was the first model produced at the marque’s purpose built Gaydon facility in Warwickshire. Universally regarded as one of the finest grand tourers of its era, it combines elegant, timeless design with genuine V12 performance. A handcrafted interior, a thunderous naturally aspirated engine and beautifully judged proportions deliver a driving experience that feels increasingly special in today’s market.

This particular car is a 2007 DB9 Gen 2 and an Aston Martin Owner’s Club Concours winner, presented in exceptional condition throughout. Power comes from the naturally aspirated 6.0litre V12, paired with the highly soughtafter sixspeed manual transmission. In manual form, the DB9 is transformed—lighter on its feet, more responsive and far more engaging than the automatic, with a level of driver involvement that modern GT cars rarely match.

Finished in Tungsten Silver over Iron Ore leather, the car has covered just 28,000 miles and is supported by a full service history.

Factory Sports Pack – A Defining Feature

One of the most significant aspects of this example is its rare factory fitted Sports Pack, a highly desirable option that fundamentally sharpens the DB9’s character.

Key features of the Sports Pack include:

  • Uprated suspension with spring rates increased by 68% at the front and 64% at the rear
  • Revised dampers and reduced ride height
  • Stiffer front antiroll bar and quicker steering rack
  • Lightweight forged alloy wheels with Aston Martinspecified Bridgestone tyres
  • Titanium wheel nuts
  • Aluminium underbody panels, replacing standard plastic items to improve chassis rigidity

Collectively, these changes deliver sharper turn in, reduced body roll and a more focused, confidence inspiring driving experience—without sacrificing the refinement expected of an Aston Martin GT. Evo magazine noted in 2025 that the Sports Pack “transforms the steering feel and response, making the DB9 a far more convincing driver’s car, while retaining its smooth, longdistance GT character.”

EXTERIOR

Finished in the popular Tungsten Silver the overall condition is excellent, as would be expected of a concours wining car.  There are no evidence of corrosion anywhere and the additional PPF package has done an excellent job of protecting the front end from any stone chips.

As part of the pre-sales preparation, the paintwork was treated to a comprehensive detailing, culminating in the application of Swisswax's remarkable Crystal Rock car wax. This cutting-edge car wax contains an impressive 76% Brazilian ivory carnauba wax by volume, forming a sleek and lustrous shield on the car's paintwork. Not only does it provide a durable and water-resistant barrier, but it also boasts a longevity far exceeding all other high carnauba content waxes.

All brightwork and badging is still in perfect condition as is all the glass. The headlights are crystal clear and free from any scratches of cracking.  The rear lights clusters have been have been upgraded to the later clear lenses, which make for a more modern look.

INTERIOR & EQUIPMENT

The car’s cabin is a wonderful place to be, both visually and aromatically.

The Iron Ore interior makes use of vast swathes of the finest hides, beautifully finished with bodycoloured hand stitching, creating an inviting and sophisticated contrast to the Tungsten Silver exterior.

The seats, door cards, and dash top are all in excellent condition, with only the slightest wear beginning to show on the driver’s seat. The passenger and rear seats appear virtually unused. The suede headliner is unmarked and with no signs of sagging.

The piano black upper centre console makes for a striking combination, when paired with the metalfinished lower console and armrest facias.

The car was highly optioned from the factory and features:

  • Bodycoloured interior stitching
  • Linn 5.1 audio system with FM radio, CD multi-changer and Bluetooth phone connectivity
  • Colourcoded over mats
  • Heated electric memory seats with powered back bolsters
  • Heated windscreen
  • Front mud flaps
  • Side paint protection film
  • Polished Aston Martin plenum logos (specifically requested by the original owner)
  • Stainlesssteel heater controls
  • Sill plates engraved with the original owner’s name
  • Aston Martin umbrella

The navigation system features a pop-up screen housed in the top centre console, which discreetly folds away when not in use.

All controls, switches, dials, and the climate control system function correctly.

The car has been fitted with an S5 Exhaust Remote Unit operated by a key fob. This allows the system to operate as Aston Martin intended, with “Quiet” mode remaining subdued up to 4,000 rpm, before the valves open to release a more engaging exhaust note.

Alternatively, when “Loud” mode is activated via the fob, the valves remain open throughout the entire rev range, adding another level of aural drama to the already impressive V12 soundtrack.

All gas struts for the bonnet and boot have been replaced.

Included with the car are an Aston Martin custom fit indoor car cover, the original warning triangle, tyre repair kit (sealant and air compressor), and an Aston Martin battery conditioner.

ENGINE, TRANSMISSION & SUSPENSION

Engine & Performance

Under the bonnet sits a beautifully crafted 5,935cc, 48valve, naturally aspirated V12 inspired by Aston Martin’s legendary Le Mans racing heritage. Identified by its AM04/1 engine number, this example features the later Cologne built unit, widely regarded by enthusiasts as the more robust and reliable evolution compared with the earlier AM04/0 Cosworthbuilt engines.

Power delivery is smooth and linear, building into a distinctive “rising crescendo” as the revs climb. This is no relaxed cruiser; instead, it is a performance focused engine that delivers increasingly urgent acceleration beyond 4,000 rpm. Despite its willingness to rev, over 80% of peak torque is available from just 1,500 rpm, ensuring effortless overtaking and strong response at any speed.

To further enhance performance, the car has been sympathetically upgraded with S&B highflow air filters, secondary catalyst removal and a bespoke ECU recalibration to optimise these modifications. Together, these changes are estimated to increase output to approximately 470 bhp, up from the standard 450 bhp.

-----

Exhaust & Sound

The car is fitted with an S5 Exhaust Remote Unit, operated via a discreet key fob. In “Quiet” mode, the system behaves exactly as Aston Martin intended, remaining subdued up to 4,000 rpm before the valves open to reveal a richer, more engaging exhaust note. When “Loud” mode is selected, the valves remain open throughout the entire rev range, unleashing the full aural drama of the already impressive V12 soundtrack.

-----

Transmission & Drivetrain

Power is delivered via a rear mounted transaxle layout, chosen by Aston Martin to optimise weight distribution. This example is equipped with the highly desirable six speed manual gearbox by Italian manufacturer Graziano, featuring closer intermediate ratios and a shorter final drive than the automatic variants. The result is a far more visceral and analogue driving experience, allowing the driver to fully exploit the character of the V12.

Equally at home as a long legged grand tourer or a focused driver’s car, the manual transmission transforms the car’s character, offering depth, engagement and flexibility, depending on the driver's mood and the road.

-----

Clutch Upgrade

The car has also benefited from an upgraded AP Racing twinplate clutch, fitted at approximately 23,000 miles, enhancing durability and drivability. The original Aston Martin twinplate clutch has been retained and will accompany the car, along with the removed secondary catalysts.

-----

Sports Pack

Specified from new with the optional Sports Pack, this car benefits from a comprehensive suite of chassis upgrades designed to sharpen handling without compromising refinement. Introduced from mid2006, the Sports Pack increased spring rates by 68% at the front and 64% at the rear, complemented by revised dampers and an upgraded front anti-roll bar. Ride height was lowered by six millimetres, while lighter fives spoke alloy wheels—saving one kilogram per corner—reduced unsprung mass, further enhanced by the use of lighter and stronger titanium wheel nuts, in place of the standard steel items.

Additional improvements included aluminium underbody panels replacing the standard plastic items, increasing structural rigidity and further enhancing handling precision. Steering response was sharpened with a quicker steering rack—a feature not always included on later dealer fitted Sports Pack cars, due to the complexity of retrofitting it to a fully built vehicle.

The transformation delivered by the Sports Pack is neatly summarised by Evo Magazine in their March 2025 Used Aston Martin DB9 (2003–2015) Review, Specs and Buying Guide:

“Not only does it transform the steering feel and response, but the increased bite and poise makes the DB9 a much more convincing driver’s car and all without compromising its role as a smooth, refined, mileeating GT.”

Finally, new rear OEM rear dampers were fitted at 18,740 miles.

WHEELS, BRAKES & TYRES

The car is fitted with the optional Sports Pack 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, attractively finished with diamond-cut facings to the spokes.

The front wheels are fitted with OEM 235/40 ZR19 Bridgestone Potenza tyres, specified for Sports Pack–equipped cars. The rear wheels are fitted with matching Bridgestone Potenza tyres in the OEM 275/35 ZR19 size.

All tyres show significant remaining tread.

The car is equipped with OEM Brembo four-piston callipers on all four corners, finished in grey, with Aston Martin script. The standard brake pads have been upgraded to Ferodo DS2500 pads (at 24k miles) and the original brake fluid has been replaced with ATE Type 200 high-temperature brake fluid. These upgrades provide improved braking performance over the standard setup, particularly during more spirited driving.

UNDERSIDE

The Aston Martin DB9, was the first car built on the revolutionary VH (Vertical/Horizontal) platform, featuring a lightweight, rigid structure made of bonded and riveted aluminium that’s light weight.

As a former concours car it would be expected that the car would present very well underneath and as can be seen from the pictures this car does not disappoint.

Minimal pre-sales preparation was needed underneath the car and to the inner wheel arches beyond some light cleaning.  We did however take the opportunity to coat the engine and gearbox casings with high temperature Dinitrol clear wax. This helps prevent any oxidation occurring on the alloy casings, which would otherwise occur if left untreated.
