VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Introduced to celebrate Honda’s 50th anniversary, the S2000 quickly established itself as a contemporary icon. This genuine, analogue sports car distilled Honda’s racing heritage into a beautifully balanced and exceptionally reliable roadster. At its heart lies the naturally aspirated 2.0-litre F20C VTEC engine, producing 240bhp at 8,300rpm and revving all the way to an exhilarating 9,000rpm. Paired with a precise 6-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels, the S2000 delivers a pure, engaging experience. It’s ideal 50:50 weight distribution, expertly tuned chassis, and sharp steering make it one of the most rewarding open-top sports cars of its era. Today, the S2000 is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, firmly recognised as a modern classic.

This 2007 example is known as an AP1 facelift model (or “AP1.5”). For the 2004 model year, Honda introduced a series of significant updates to the original S2000. These enhancements included:

  • Retuned suspension and revised geometry to reduce oversteer and improve overall stability.
  • Upgraded gearbox synchronisers, switching from brass to carbon fibre for smoother and more durable shifting.
  • Newly designed, larger 17-inch, five-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels for improved aesthetics and handling.
  • Cosmetic updates, such as redesigned front and rear bumpers, revised headlight assemblies, new LED tail lights, and oval-tipped exhausts.

Despite these changes, the car retained its legendary 2.0-litre F20C engine, renowned for its exhilarating 9,000 rpm redline. These updates not only refreshed the S2000’s appearance but also enhanced its driving dynamics, making it even more rewarding for enthusiasts and collectors alike.

With just under 15,500 miles from new, fully supported by comprehensive MOT and service records and only one previous owner, this S2000 GT stands out as a truly rare opportunity.  As a GT model, it comes with both an electric soft top (operating in just 6 seconds) and a factory hard top, making it a practical and enjoyable choice for all seasons.

Presented in stunning condition throughout, the Berlina Black paintwork has been professionally detailed and ceramic coated with Titan Coatings’ “Zeus”

( https://www.titan-coatings.com/products/ZEUS ), as part of its pre-sale preparation, at a cost of over £2,000.00. This ensures it retains its deep gloss and is protected for years to come.

The black paintwork also compliments the red and black leather interior, which presents almost as new. All four factory diamond-cut alloy wheels have been fully refurbished, ceramic coated and fitted with Bridgestone Potenza Sport tyres in the correct sizes, preserving both aesthetics and handling integrity.  The car has been freshly serviced and the underside treated to our comprehensive preservation process. The fabric soft top has also been treated with Fabsil Gold’s universal protector, ensuring outstanding and long-lasting water repellency.

This S2000 remains completely unmodified and highly original. Service records show diligent maintenance by both Honda main dealers and independent specialists, with the most recent service carried out in February this year at 15,488 miles. MOT records dating back to 2010 confirm that most mileage was accumulated early in the car’s life, with minimal use in recent years—averaging just 443 miles annually since 2012. SORN records further indicate the car was routinely stored off the road during winter months, helping to preserve its condition. The current MOT is valid until January 2027

With production ending in 2009, unmodified, low-mileage, low-ownership UK-supplied S2000 GTs in this condition have become highly sought after among collectors and enthusiasts. This example, fastidiously prepared and presented in a desirable colour combination, represents one of the finest available. Whether you’re seeking a blue-chip addition to your collection or a thrilling analogue driver’s car, this example delivers on every front.

EXTERIOR

Berlina Black is one of the most sought-after colours for the Honda S2000, accentuating its iconic “long-nose, short-rear deck” silhouette and muscular flared sides. This combination delivers an aerodynamic yet purposeful roadster profile that stands out on the road.

The bodywork is presented in exceptional condition, having undergone professional preparation by our multiple concours-winning detailing partner, Cotswold Bespoke (at a cost of  over £2000.00). It has been finished with Titan Coatings’ Zeus ceramic coating, offering class-leading gloss and over 5 years of paint protection

( https://www.titan-coatings.com/products/ZEUS ). These treatments not only enhance the car’s appearance but also safeguard its value and longevity.

Aside from the occasional small stone chip on the bonnet, the paintwork is virtually flawless. The light clusters, featuring Xenon headlights and LED rear lights, are crystal clear and free from cracks or chips.

The fabric soft top is also in excellent condition, with no rips or tears. It has been freshly cleaned and treated with Fabsil Gold universal protector, providing outstanding, long-lasting water repellency to protect against rain damage.

INTERIOR & EQUIPMENT

The Honda S2000’s cockpit is a masterclass in minimalist, driver-centric design, engineered for pure engagement. Every control is purposefully placed, with air conditioning and radio pods positioned near the steering wheel for intuitive, hands-on operation. The high-mounted gear lever, renowned for its short throw and slick shifting, falls naturally to hand, reinforcing the car’s sporting intent. The iconic digital cluster, featuring the “rainbow arc” rev counter, is now celebrated as a classic touch of minimalist automotive design.

The red and black leather sports seats, revised for the AP1 facelift, offer superb support during high-performance driving. Speakers integrated into the roll hoops behind the headrests, enhance the audio experience. The interior’s condition is excellent, with factory over mats protecting the carpets. Standard features include electric mirrors and windows, boot release, ABS, power steering, air conditioning, Perspex wind blocker, central locking, and immobiliser. The facelift model also benefits from a glass rear screen with built-in demister for the fabric roof, mirrored in the factory hardtop.

A discreet silver cover conceals the original radio/CD player when not in use, maintaining the cabin’s clean aesthetic. All switches, warning lights, and controls operate flawlessly. The aluminium drilled pedals add a sporty flair to the footwell, and the boot houses the factory toolkit, jack, run-flat spare wheel, and locking wheel nut pack

ENGINE, TRANSMISSION & SUSPENSION

The AP1 Facelift is powered by Honda’s legendary 2.0L F20C inline-four engine, renowned for its exhilarating 9,000 RPM redline, 240 bhp output, and the intense, high-revving character delivered by VTEC technology. This powerplant offers a pure, analogue driving experience with instant throttle response. To truly unlock its performance, drivers are rewarded for keeping the revs above 6,000 RPM—a hallmark of what makes the S2000 such a celebrated enthusiast’s car.

With just under 15,500 recorded miles, fully supported by MOT and service records, this example stands out as one of the lowest-mileage S2000s available. Its maintenance history is exemplary, with servicing carried out by both Honda main dealers and independent specialists. Notably, the current owner—a recently retired senior technician at renowned Ferrari specialist Bob Houghton—has also meticulously maintained the car, which has averaged just 443 miles per year since 2012. The most recent service, including a clutch fluid change at 15,199 miles, was completed in February this year by an independent specialist. The engine bay’s pristine condition further attests to the car’s low mileage and careful upkeep. The car has recently been fitted with a new heavy duty battery with a 4 year warranty and is fitted with a CTEK battery conditioner lead.

The S2000’s compact 6-speed manual transmission is highly acclaimed for its precise, short-throw “rifle bolt” action, making every gear change a joy. Clutch engagement is spot-on, contributing to the car’s engaging driving dynamics.

Engineered from the outset as a roadster, rather than a coupe with the roof removed, the S2000 features Honda’s innovative “High X-Bone Frame”—a high-rigidity monocoque chassis designed to maximise stiffness and safety without unnecessary weight. The prominent central tunnel acts as a structural backbone, resulting in superior torsional rigidity and a low centre of gravity. Combined with its front-mid engine layout, this achieves an ideal 50:50 weight distribution. The independent double wishbone suspension at all four corners, along with revised geometry and tuning in the Facelift model, ensures sharp, responsive handling and improved stability, making this S2000 a truly rewarding driver’s car.

WHEELS, BRAKES & TYRES

The car is equipped with its original factory-issued 17-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels featuring diamond-cut faces. As part of the pre-sales preparation, all four wheels were professionally refurbished to OEM specification, ceramic coated and fitted with a complete set of brand new Bridgestone Potenza Sport tyres, in the correct factory size of 215/45 R17 91Y at the front and 245/40 R17 91Y at the rear. This ensures optimal grip, handling, and aesthetics, maintaining the car’s factory integrity and performance.

The braking system is powerful and responsive, having benefited from a brake fluid change during the service in February this year. It operates flawlessly, bringing the car to a controlled stop without any deviation to the left or right.

UNDERSIDE

As part of the pre-sales preparation, the car’s entire underside and wheel arches received a comprehensive underbody preservation treatment. This process began with cleaning and wire brushing to remove any surface corrosion, followed by the application of a rust converter. Next, a range of long-lasting protective coatings and cavity waxes were applied, tailored to each mechanical component and area of the underside. Products used include Dinitrol underbody clear wax, POR 15, and Buzz Weld’s Zero Prep anti-corrosion coatings. Additionally, all internal chassis rails and both front and rear sub-frames were injected with cavity wax for enhanced protection.

As a result, the underside now benefits from a level of corrosion resistance that surpasses the factory finish. The treatment provides exceptionally durable, jet wash-proof protection, ensuring the car remains safeguarded even with year-round use.
